CARIGEN has also extended its range of identification and paternity services to other animals of commercial interest. Animals such as dogs, cats, horses and cattle can also be identified and their paternity determined through our established identification services.

These tests can be applied to monitoring and tracing finished meat products, pedigree analysis, selection and breeding programs, animal pedigree registration and the protection of property.

CARIGEN assists in the breeding of these animals by providing accurate and timely paternity services to identify the breeding stock and the subsequent offspring of the breed. This assists the breeder in ensuring that his offspring are in fact from true high quality animals and can be approriately registered with the relevant organisations.

CARIGEN provides certificates of pedigree for the animals. All tests are carried out according to guidelines established by the International Society of Animal Genetics (ISAG).

As with human paternity, parentage testing of animals uses DNA to prove or disprove the relationship between an offspring and the father of the animal. It is based on the fact that half of the DNA is inherited from the father and half from the mother.

CARIGEN provides sample collection kits for you to safely take samples from the animal for DNA analysis.
