An Aunt/Uncle test also known as Avuncular Testing determines the probability that two individuals are related to each other as aunt/uncle and niece/nephew.
Results may vary between 1% and 99% accuracy with a probability greater than 80% considered as strong proof of relatedness and a probability less than 20% considered as strong proof of non relatedness.
The statistical significance can be greatly increased if other known relatives, such as a parent of the niece or nephew, are available for testing.
DNA test assumes that there is a 50% prior probability of the relationship.
The turnaround time for this test is 5 working days. This test can be used for personal or legal purposes.
Alternatively a Y STR test can be performed if the partcipants are male.
